Suspended Horizons grows from my long engagement with color, atmosphere, and the physical behavior of pigment on raw cotton. Working with water, diluted acrylic pigment, staining, gravity, and absorption, I approach landscape not as something to depict, but as something experienced through light, weather, distance, memory, and sensation. The horizon becomes less a literal line than a threshold—an energetic condition held in suspension.

In these paintings, gesture still provides structure, but atmosphere carries more of the emotional and spatial experience. Fields of color expand and recede; edges dissolve; exposed cotton, stains, drips, and intervals of open space remain active. I think of this as aerated abstraction, a language in which the painting is built as much through absorption, restraint, and openness as through applied gesture. Each work becomes less a view than a suspended event—energy held in atmosphere rather than grounded to a fixed place.

The paintings ask what remains of landscape once recognizable description falls away: whether color, light, gravity, interval, and suspended movement can hold the sensation of a place without illustrating it.
