ABOUT SOFT FIRE IN THE GARDEN

Soft Fire in the Garden begins with the ancient idea of paradise and the moment it becomes mortal. In the story of Eden, the garden is a place of abundance, safety, and innocence until knowledge introduces consequence, time, and death. The paintings grow from that tension: beauty becomes more intense because it cannot remain untouched.

Across the series, color, light, atmosphere, and elemental forces become ways of thinking about transformation. Orchid Kiss holds the sensuous protection of the garden; Ashes to Ashes Embers from the Flame, turns toward fire, residue, and the regenerative mythology of the phoenix. Spectra 650 considers color as a fragment within a larger, invisible continuum of light, while Salt, Wind and Sunlight and Breath of Flowers use diamond dust to make light itself physically present. In Nebbia Espansa, atmosphere opens outward into distance and vastness.

The garden here is not a lost place to be recovered, but a condition held between splendor and disappearance—where mortality gives beauty its urgency, and destruction always contains the possibility of beginning again.
