PARADAISO

2019-2023

ABOUT PARADAISO

Paradiso explores paradise as a place both remembered and imagined—a landscape assembled through sensation, memory, and longing. Throughout the series, gesture takes on an aerial quality: forms suggest birds, wings, currents, and creatures that hover between the recognizable and the invented.

No Guts No Glory carries the heat and velocity of tropical flight, its movement deliberately unpredictable. In Can You Hear the Night, memories of evenings along the St. Johns River surface through birds and the layered sounds of the natural world. Elysium, made after time spent in the spiritual landscape of the mountains of New Mexico, turns toward a more expansive and otherworldly sense of place.

Across the paintings, paradise is never fixed. It moves between the earthly and the imagined, where remembered landscapes give way to places that could exist only in paint.
